Refer a friend to Sidekick and you could both earn a cash reward. When your friend opens a qualifying Savings or Investment account and keeps their balance at or above the qualifying threshold for the required holding period, you'll both be paid the reward shown below. The two products work the same way, only the numbers differ.

You can claim a reward for up to 10 successful referrals in total, combined across both products.

The reward is paid into your Sidekick Wallet, normally on the last day of the holding period. Sometimes, for operational reasons, this can take up to 5 working days longer. We won't pay any reward until we've confirmed the qualifying balance was kept throughout the holding period.

This scheme runs from the effective date above until we withdraw it. See “If we withdraw or change this scheme” below.

Share your unique referral code with a friend. The same code can be used by up to 10 different friends, and each successful referral earns you a reward.

You can't refer yourself, and you can't arrange with someone else to refer each other back and forth - see the “Anti-gaming and misuse” section below.

Once 10 of your friends have successfully qualified, you won't be able to make any further referrals under this scheme. If a friend has opened an account using your code, but their balance drops below the threshold during their holding period, that referral slot will be disqualified from the payment due. This doesn’t mean however that you have lost the slot - It will be returned to your total allocation, so you can share your code with someone else instead.

Open a qualifying Savings or Investment account using a friend's referral code, then deposit funds until your balance reaches the qualifying threshold for that product: £1,000 for Savings, or £5,000 for Investment. You can build up to this gradually, over any number of deposits, at your own pace.

On the day your balance first reaches the threshold the holding period (how long you must maintain your balance at that threshold) will begin: 90 days for Savings, or 180 days for Investments.

You can only take part this way once. If you've already opened a Sidekick account before, you won't be able to claim a reward as a new customer through someone else's referral.

Keep your balance at or above the qualifying threshold for the whole holding period: 90 days for Savings, or 180 days for Investment. If your balance drops below the threshold at any point during this time, the reward is lost in full for both you and your friend. There's no partial reward, and you won't be able to re-qualify for that same referral.

For Investment accounts, what counts is the amount you've deposited and not withdrawn, not the current market value of your investment. So if the value of your investment falls because of normal market movements, this doesn't affect your qualifying balance and your reward isn't at risk. Only a withdrawal that takes your net deposited amount below the threshold means you're no longer eligible: see “Investment risk” below for more on this.

Once your holding period ends without your balance dropping below the threshold, the reward is paid automatically into your Sidekick Wallet. You don't need to do anything.

Your capital is at risk when you invest. The value of investments can go down as well as up, and you may get back less than you invested. Past performance isn't a reliable indicator of future results. As the person referring, you can earn a reward for up to 10 successful referrals in total, whether your friends open Savings accounts, Investment accounts, or a mix of both. This limit applies across both products together, not 10 for each.

If all 10 of your friends open Savings accounts, the most you can earn this way is £250. If all 10 open Investment accounts, it's £1,000. A mix of the two falls somewhere in between, depending on how many of each.

Once you've reached your limit of 10 successful referrals, you won't be able to refer any more friends under this scheme.

Your referral code is for your own personal use. Please don't share it publicly, for example on cashback websites, social media or forums.

We can deactivate your code at any time and for any reason, for example if we reasonably believe it's been shared publicly or used in a way it wasn't intended for.

If you think a referral hasn't been recorded correctly, let us know within 60 days of the date your friend reached the qualifying threshold. We won't be able to pay a reward for an unverified referral after that.

You can't refer yourself, directly or indirectly. If you do, we'll recover in full any reward already paid.

You can't arrange with another customer to refer each other back and forth for mutual reward. If we find this has happened, we can withhold or recover rewards from anyone involved.

We only allow one Sidekick account per customer. If we find you hold more than one, you'll be disqualified from this scheme and we may recover any reward already paid.

More generally, we can withhold, withdraw or correct a reward, including recovering one we've already paid, if we reasonably believe you're not eligible, there's been an error, or there's fraud, gaming or misuse involved.

We can withdraw or change this scheme at any time. Doing this won't affect any reward you've already been paid, or any referral where your friend reached the qualifying threshold before the change took effect.

The tax treatment of this reward depends on your individual circumstances. We don't make any representation about its tax treatment, and you're responsible for your own tax affairs. Seek specialist advice if you're unsure.

Investment products listed under Advanced Opportunities aren't eligible for this scheme.

Sidekick's standard terms and conditions continue to apply in full and aren't affected by this scheme.

We aren't liable for delays, failures or technical issues affecting the referral process, except where the law says otherwise.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If something goes wrong, we'll try to resolve it directly, though this doesn't affect your right to complain through Sidekick's complaints procedure, or to refer a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
