Nominated Accounts: what they are and how to use them

Updated over a month ago

A Nominated Account is the personal bank account you use to send money to Sidekick and receive money back from Sidekick. For security and anti-fraud reasons, we only allow deposits and withdrawals to/from your nominated account(s).

Key points to know

Your nominated account must be:

  • A personal current account in your own name only.

Joint accounts and business accounts can’t be used.

  • With a supported bank provider (see providers we support here)

  • The same account you use for your first transfer.
Your first deposit must come from a nominated account you’ve already shared statements for (if we’ve asked).

  • Used for both deposits and withdrawals.
We can’t send withdrawals to an account that isn’t nominated.

Why we require nominated accounts

  • To confirm the account belongs to you (protects you from fraud).

  • To make sure money only moves between Sidekick and verified accounts.

  • To meet UK Anti Money Laundering requirements

If you try to fund from a different account

If you send a deposit from an account that isn’t nominated (or you haven’t provided statements for when requested), we may need to:

  • Pause the deposit, and/or

  • Ask for updated bank statements before we can proceed.
